Hello. Since you are reading these lines we are pleased to realize that we caught your attention somehow. Everything we did or are going to do is for your pleasure. Yeah! We are speaking about you right now.
So who are we, what are we doing and why "WE"? We are the team working on a modification or, speaking correctly, on a total conversion of C&C:TW - DUNE:Evolution(uncommercial project*). But we would like to think that we are doing just a real game itself. So we hope that you are with us at least until you read it all to the end. And then decide for yourself if it`s worth your time and attention... and bla-bla-bla... ...ohhh... it all is so lusciously sweet... too sweet and unnatural... It's as if we wanted to write an article into a girl magazine (of course I have never read any... I was told about it...).
One may think that all the giants of Game Industry are kicking themselves and a crowd of hot fangirls is waiting when we could leave an autograph on their boobs ... well, the female part of our team thinks quite different ... but anyway it doesn`t matter coz all these are just dreams we`d like to make true and let`s be realists - we would hardly find any boobs among you to put our autographs on.
A Ballad about modding
Modding - many of you know what it is, some of you have a few ideas about it, and others are not interested in it at all and live comfortably without this knowledge. But those who are interested in it.... Yeah!.. they are really pro and think that they can pwn with their creativities stuff each gamedev company. Usually in 7 cases of 10 nothing is going to work out and I, frankly speaking, we had very alike experience. You can easily understand me if you only look at this satanic tank with yellow predatory eye:
And these are just mine models, by no means not less cool than the previous one
I`m half crying when I`m thinking about it: when I was in primary school, we had to do the same things from the wood and I suppose it was a strong bang on our children’s minds and later it banged on me again ... Can you imagine Muad`Dib near these battle machines? - If we had done it, I'm sure, we would have got a medal . But later we calmed dawn and as it was predicted nothing has turned out. As a result: the old team broke up, the world was saved, and the pressure in game industry declined and Blizzard with EA could sigh with a relief .
EVOLUTION
What were the words of famous uncle Darwin? - at first unicellular organisms appeared and so on and so far... Or may be it was said in “Spore”… Ok, it’s not that important coz we all know, subsequently, everything was becoming more complicated and much more interesting...
So we have the same with our DUNE, when our old team broke up three nutters (arteXtreme, AL_Hassan and I) decided to renew our work on modification. But we didn’t want to drown in Petri dish any more because when you are doing something you should try to do your best or use the maximum of your abilities . So we started our work on the project, trying to grow up from a unicellular organism....
I still remember that day:
It was a rainy October evening and it made my room look like the cosiest and the cutest place ever. A soft light of my table lamp, and rain, quietly rattling on my sill only strengthened the feeling of comfort... Me and my baby. Face to face...
The sound of “Disturbed” slowly filled the room creating romantic atmosphere but I didn’t listen to it. I hardly tried to manage with telltale shiver in my knees. Yeah! I was nervous. I wanted everything to be as good as possible but I was a novice and I didn’t know what to do at all. No matter how much I had been reading or asking anybody about it, I was confused... Me and my sweety. Face to face...
Then a sudden thought struck me! Aroma candles! Aroma candles were the one missing link! - «Nonsense!», I drove the idea away and realized that my wet as sponges fingers (not controlled by my conscious) had already started acting...
But nothing good worked out . I was unexperienced and felt awkward… Everything was finished too fast and, I should admit, my attempts didn’t bring any satisfaction. But still it was... It was my first... the first appropriately made Photoshop texture...
Oh! How glad i was... So I immediately sent that picture to my m8 Pasha (aka Al_Hassan) through the internet waiting for an encouragement but he simply laughed at me:
«What is it? Is it a texture? Why does the tank look like a trashbin? It’s awful. You’re as good at texturing as I am at dancing. Stop trying, it’s useless! It’s not for you!»
I was crushed...
«- What!? Not for me?! Who dared to call me n00b!»
I screamed at the innocent monitor, furiously breaking the keyboard at the same time...
but... some time later I calmed down (collecting the keys of my keyboard thrown all around the room turned out to be very relaxing) I rallied all my thoughts and powers together and… here is the result, my first finished unit:
W.I.P.
I don’t want to boast… Whom am i trying to cheat, of course i want... But let`s stop talking about nothing and let me introduce the whole team, which is working on DUNE: Evolution, they are really worth it:

We’re not gonna make a remake of Westwood Dune just because we can’t. But it doesn’t mean that our Dune is gonna be better of worse, it’s simply gonna be different. You must agree that trying to make a good game is only the one side of the medal, absolutely different thing is to come up with those famous games that arouse sweet, sometimes a kind of idealist, memories in our mind…especially when we speak about Dune. The very first RTS...
But although Frank Herbert’s world is quite rich, there’s still a lot of place to show your talent. Dune is a Sci-fi universe in which the parallels of some kind of Middle Ages are slightly seen. It’s the world where the size of empire is measured not by countries and continents but space and a chain of planets… the world where feudal lord is compared to god and the life of a simple man is not worth twopence… the world where the power of human’s brain is always stronger than any technologies… the world where knife can be more fatal than any bullet or shell… the world where all the wishes are come to the only value and that’s why the bloodshed will never stop…
This is the very world we are trying to create...
Our modification will only slightly touch the great masterpiece of Frank Herbert (for it’s almost unreal to try to adapt books to a level of a computer game). But still it’ll be quite enough for making an interesting plot and leaving a great deal of place for our own fancy.
Do you know where the centre of the universe is?
foreword
Sand, steel and blood…
People say that the universe is infinite… say that it’s impossible to realize its size. But sometimes even the infinity has a place…a source of all wishes…and when such a source appears…then even the infinity becomes cramped.
DUNE!
Desert, almost showing no signs of life, planet Arrakis. The place where human’s life has its price measured by a quantity of water… where deadly storms and the kings of a desert – sand warms, make a living outside a little settlements almost impossible…but only here, on Arracis, one can find Melange(Spice)...
Only at the cost of heavy sacrifice humanity could overcome the threat of thinking machines – The Butlerian Jihad. The threat which had been created by people themselves. But having removed one danger the people courted another disaster dooming themselves in a total bondage… in bondage to Spice, to its influence on the mental abilities of a human. The existence of Imperia is impossible without Spice, and he who control the Spice, control the Universe...
Year 10191 was marked as a year of a beginning of a new epoch. The figure of the Duke Leto Atreides was removed from the chess-desk of the political game of the Empire. Using the weakness of the Emperor Harkonnens and Guild Navigator(Spacing Guild) invaded the planet. But during the bloodshed revolution the concubine of the Duke and his son Paul (whose destine is to become a Kwisatz Haderach, the superhuman) survived.
Being sent to the desert to face their certain death, the mother and the son joined Fremens – aboriginals of Dune. Shortly after Fremens identified the young man with their leader who was said to come in a prophecy as Muad’Dib. He with his men overthrew the tyranny, proclaimed the Emperor dethroned, and took the place of the Emperor of the universe with its capital in the city of Arrakis on Dune. And in order to cut short all the possible rebellions Paul laid ultimatum that he would destroy the sources of Melandz in case of any opposition. It stabilizes the situation on the planet but the fight for Dune is only at its beginning. To set his power on a legal ground Muad’Dib must get mixed up in political intrigues of the Empire.
***
Understanding that he wouldn’t be able to oppose to all his enemies and sooner or later they would find strengths to strike back, Paul entrusted Dune to his loyal comrades and made his way to Kaitain with diplomatic mission, which included marriage with Princes Irulan. The mother and the sister of Muad’Dib went with him.
Meanwhile the people of the Atreides Haus are grouping with Fremens in order to strike a blow on smugglers and the rest of Harkonnens...
So “our” Dune starts...

It’s just a part of what we have done and in the nearest future you’ll know more interesting details about DUNE:Evolution. The work wouldn’t be left because it has become something very important for us, we want to test ourselves and do our best. We hope you’re interested in our project.
